Urs at Ajmer
Celebrated in Ajmer in the Dargah of Ajmer
Sharif - The great Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti. Pilgrims from all around
the world visit this place during the festival to get the blessings of the holy
place.
Pushkar Fair
Celebrated around the Pushkar lake about
11 kms from Ajmer, The place transforms into a spectacular place with life during
the month of Kartik. During the Fair Camels are also traded.
Desert Festival
During the month of January/February the desert city Jaisalmer comes to life
with festivity and delightful spirit all around. You can see hordes of colorful
dressed people, there is folk music all around. There are camel races and many other
activities. It is a major tourist attraction.
Kaila Devi Fair
The Fair of Kaila Devi is popularly known as
Mahalakshmi. The fair is held
in the village Kaila which is in the Karauli district, The fair is conducted during
the month of Chaith.
It attracts a large number of pilgrims mainly the domestic pilgrims.
Banganga Fair
On the full moo day of Vaisakh, the Banganga fair is held. Pilgrims take bath and
pay homage. It is considered very auspicious.
Shekhawati festival
This festival is held on the 10th and 11th February every year and is jointly
organised by the Distric administrators of Sikar, Jhunjhunu and
Churu, The State
Govt. and the M.R.Morarka GDC Rural Research Foundation. There are lot activities
which the tourist enjoy during the festival.
Teej Festival
The festival of swings. At the advent of monsoon this festival is celebrated.
Swings are hung from trees and young girls and women dressed colorfully sing songs
and celebrate the coming of monsoon. A procession is also taken out on two consecutive
days in the city of Jaipur during the festival. Goddess Parvati is worshipped during
this festival.
Khatu Shyamji Fair
Khatu Shyamji is famous for the Khatu Shyamji temple and devotees from
across India visit this place during the fair. The fair is conducted during the
Phalgun Sudi Dashami.
Karni Mata Fair
Held twice a year at Deshnoke, a small down near Nokha in
Bikaner. The
first one is being held during March/April and the second fair is during September/October.
The Karni Mata temple at Dekhnoke is a stone and marble structure where the Deiti
is Karni Mata and is believed to posses supernatural powers. People from all across
India come to visit the Shrine.
Kapil Muni Fair, Kolayat
The largest fair in Bikaner during the Kartik Purnima is held at Kolayat
the place of Kapil Muni. There is a lake and 52 ghats with banyan trees around.
People come in large number and take a dip in the lake during the fair. There are
various worships and rituals which are conducted during the fair. A cattle fair
is also held during that time where people trade cattle, horses and camels.
Urs at Galiyakot
Galiyakot is a village in the Sagwara Tehsil of Dungarpur District, Thousands
of followers and devotees visit this place during the Urs which is celebrated on
the 27th day of Moharram. People seek blessings of the saint at the saint Sayeed

Elephant Festival Jaipur
During the month of Phalgun on the eve of Holi this grand festival is celebrated
at jaipur.During the festival is the grand procession of elephants, camels and horses.
Folk dancers dance during the procession. There is a Tug-of-war between Elephants
and 19 men and women. It is most colorful festival of
Jaipur. Tourists from all
aound the world visit Jaipur during this festival time.
Gangaur Festival
It is a local festival of Rajasthan and is observed with great devotion
by women who worship Gauri ( the consort of Lord Shiva). The festival starts on
the first day of Chaitra, the day following holi and continues for 18 days. During
the festival ladies decorate their hands and feet with
Mehendi, the myrtle paste.
During the festival the whole of Rajasthan comes to life in different forms of celebrations.
Apart from these major fairs there are many other fiars also conducted at different
parts of Rajasthan during different seasons and months of the year. As it is rightly
said that Rajasthan is a land of Celebration where through the year people celebrate
